Unit 6 examines the different forms of past tense including past simple (i.e. I hoped), past continuous (i.e. They were jumping), past perfect (i.e. He had played), and past perfect continuous (i.e. she had been working). Differentiating the usage of each past tense form involves understanding whether an action is completed in the past at a definite/continuous time, if the action is in progress at a past time, or if an action is completed before another past action. Some past tense forms are infrequently used, such as the past perfect continuous.
