Chapter nine explained what lesson planning is, why lesson planning is important, and what to do when lesson planning. The beginning of the chapter explained that everyone has varying opinions about the importance of lesson planning; some teachers think it is too restrictive and other teachers are unable to teach unless they have a lesson plan. In all cases, it is a good idea to always have a plan that states the student objectives (what students should know by the end of the lesson), the teacher's personal aims, the required materials and equipment for a lesson, problems that might arise during the execution of the lesson, estimated time for the various stages of the lesson, the expected class size, and how the teacher expects interaction to go during the lesson. However, it is important that all teachers are flexible in their lesson planning because the teacher must accommodate first and foremost to the needs of the students. For example, students might need extra time for the study phase, which consequently cuts time from the planned activate activity. The teacher in this case must be flexible and consider spending more time reviewing the lesson objectives the following day and allocating some time to more activity practice. Sequence lesson planning is great for achieving goals long term. However, teachers must also be flexible with sequence lesson planning in case the class calls for a revision in their learning.
