TESOL Jobs in South Korea

South Korea has a huge demand for EFL teachers and offers some of the highest paid EFL employment. Opportunities exist in the state sector but most teachers find themselves working in one of the thousands of hogwons (private language institutes) throughout the country. A large percentage of teachers are employed in Seoul or Pusan but there are employment possibilities in smaller cities and towns also. Many teachers complain of the working conditions but others feel that the high salaries counterbalance this. Teachers willing to work overtime can be earning up to $US 4,000 per month. Any qualified teacher who has a university degree and a TESOL certificate should have no problem whatsoever in finding employment.

1. Teach in Eastern Seoul, South Korea

Gangdong ECC is located in the eastern part of Seoul near Godeok Subway Station (line 5). Near our school there are many parks and sports facilities such as the Dongmyeong Park and the King Onjo stadium. We are a few subway stops away from Cheonho Station, which is a very busy area with many restaurants, clubs, bars, and drinking establishments. Also, not too far away is Jamsil Station, where there is Lotte World, the largest indoor amusement park in Asia.

We are looking for TESOL qualified (or equivalent) native English speaking teachers to teach conversation and who are available to start work in November.

We offer an attractive benefits package, as summarized below:

• Salary: 2.0-2.2 million won/month ($2100-2300)
• Students: 6-12 students per class
• Schedule: Mon-Fri up 26 teaching hours a week

It is also only a short subway ride over the river to the main entertainment and shopping areas of Hongik (4 stops) and Sinchon (5 stops). The school is very close to the actual subway station so you are literally 5 minutes from anywhere in downtown.
