This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have personally gained a lot from this course. Coming into the course, I had no teaching experience and very limited english experience. I majored in Environmental Science (BS), so to make the switch to english, an art, was challenging for me. This course served the dual purpose of being a review of the english language for me as well as a template for teaching (which I will rely on heavily!). I found while completing this course that I knew the “how” behind the english language but had forgotten much about the “why.” Having someone review my worksheets helped clarify a few issues I didn’t initially understand. In addition, I didn’t know how to structure my teaching and this course gave me great ideas to start with and adapt into my own. I will make constant use of the lists of points that the units had from “common errors” to “teaching ideas.” The course material was well thought out and organized, so when I’m tasked to teach students a subject, I plan on referring back to my ITTT material for teaching ideas, problems to watch for, and for references to other sources
