This unit was very complex and focused very much on the intricacies of the English Language, more specifically regarding the present tenses in the English language. As a native English speaker, I believe that I forget sometimes just how intricate English is and how easily an English language learner could become confused by parts of English speech that come completely naturally to me. Having these different tenses and their various forms laid out for me was very helpful, though, as it allowed me to better understand the 'why' behind the uses of the different tenses. It is so easy to simply correct a student who uses an incorrect tense and move on, but never really be able to explain to the student why what he or she said was incorrect. In having this understanding now of the different tenses and the uses for each one, I feel much more confident in my ability to not only correct students, but also help them understand why they must use certain present tenses.
