This lesson proved to be useful to me as it showed me that there is a lot in grammar that I often take for granted. What surprised me most about what I take for granted in English is just how much of mastering the language simply depends on memorizing the simple rules and irregularities of the language. Knowing this helps me to better see what I must do to help encourage my students to not get discouraged when learning the rules and to help them find creative solutions to memorize the rules.
