This unit goes over different aspects of evaluation and testing. It talks about placement tests, which are used in particular to place students into classes of their respective language level. Then there are diagnostic tests, which are used to determine the level the students are at before the teacher begins her lessons--the students have already been separated into their classes/language levels. Next are progress tests, which periodically gauge what the students have comprehended over a certain amount of time. Practice tests are used to prepare for external examinations. External examinations are the important tests that these students are preparing for so that they can enter career fields or countries that require them to have a certain degree of fluency in English.
