The purpose of the following details is to provide you with an introduction and overview of the International TESOL Teacher Training’s online TESOL courses. Below are full details relating to the content and structure of this TESOL courses as well as information as to how the courses are organized.
Our courses are unique for an online TESOL certification course as we continue to provide our course graduates with ongoing career support services and teacher development long after the course has been completed.
We believe that you will find this course of great benefit as you embark upon your career in TESOL. Completion of the course results in either a 60-hour certificate in teaching skills or a 120-hour TESOL certificate being awarded, depending on the course chosen.
Online TESOL Course aims:
The 120-hour TESOL course aims to provide you with a complete introduction to the world of TESOL. Upon completion of the course, graduates will have a good working knowledge of the English grammatical system as well as an awareness of the techniques and skills required to be a successful English language teacher. The 60-hour course provides a good basic introduction to teaching English to speakers of other languages. Please note that many employers will require their teaching staff to have taken a course of 100 hours or more.
Online TESOL Course content:
The 120-hour course is divided into two main areas - teaching skills and language awareness. The teaching skills component provides details of the techniques and skills required by teachers in the classroom while the language awareness component gives a solid foundation course in English grammar.
This course consists of 20 units/modules, carefully chosen and organized to ensure a gradual build up of knowledge whilst not overloading students with too much information at any one time. These units allow you to work through the course at a pace that suits your requirements.
The 60-hour course includes the 10 units most relevant to teaching skills, lesson planning and classroom management but doesn't include the units relating to language awareness.

Online TESOL Course units will be e-mailed to you by your personal online tutor (This is with exception of the Lessons in Practice unit, which can be downloaded online or sent to you on a CD-ROM ). A task sheet will be sent to you with each unit of the course. Once you have read and absorbed the material in any given unit and completed the task sheet, you can e-mail this unit to your tutor for grading and feed back. At the same time you can request the following unit or units to be sent to you along with the feedback from the previously completed unit.
After successful completion of all the applicable TESOL course units, you will receive a letter of recommendation, your final grade and your TESOL certificate.
Our online TESOL courses have been designed to allow for absolute flexibility. The course must be completed within six months of receiving your first course unit, but during this time period you can work at a pace that suits you. Please note that you should probably allow for about 5 hours per unit for studying the material and 1 hour for completing the task sheet. We suggest receiving only one unit per day to get the maximum benefit from the course. This will enable you to complete the course quickly and will also give you time to fully understand and digest each unit/lesson before continuing. However, if you would like to work through the course more quickly, or more slowly, the choice is yours.
